What kinds of educational applications can be used to teach math concepts, math skills, and problem solving?

In my last post I talked about applications that can help with visual-spatial or motor control difficulties. I would now like to spend some time with applications that can help teach math concepts, math skills, and problem solving. Research shows that manipulatives, both real and virtual, can help students understand abstract concepts. Below are examples of manipulatives.

Next we will take a look at low-tech and mid-tech adaptations for teaching math.
