What key questions should be considered when selecting educational applications to meet students’ goals and objectives?

Assistive technology can certainly provide accessibility to the math curriculum for many students. When choosing applications, educators should think about such things as visual presentation, instructions, audio output, pace, and feedback. Below are important questions that should be considered before implementing new software.

  1. What is the intended outcome of the educational application?
  2. Is the educational application likely to fulfill its stated purpose?
  3. Can the educational applications be used as an alternative to traditional classroom activities to enhance students’ participation?

Careful consideration of the questions above can help ensure a wise investment by the school district and provide an engaging learning experience for students.
