What are other examples of assistive technology for reading?
I have discussed several types of assistive technology for reading in previous posts. The webinar I just listened to gives more ideas for these types of technology. The speaker discussed the difference between screen readers and text readers. Both can be used to read text on screen which is brought into the computer from a variety of sources. Bookshare makes reading accessible to students with a variety of learning differences with a variety of options like audio support and font customization. She also talked about text to speech software with all of its customizable options. Students can choose different voices and alter the speed at which text is read. Text can be read at the letter level, word level, sentence level or paragraph level.
